The oldest Vintage Ports from Quinta do Tedo are in perfect condition to be enjoyed!
The natural cork in older bottles may become soft and difficult to open, and the tradition of opening the bottle elegantly without damaging the cork is fascinating. The pincers of the tongs are designed to grip the neck of the bottle and are heated to a very high temperature. Then, the neck area is brushed with cold water, causing a thermal shock and resulting in the clean break of the top without the risk of glass shards in the bottle. This method is a tradition that is still very much alive today in the celebration of special occasions and will be passed on to visitors at teh Estate.
